Agri officer found dead
Family says he committed suicide
An agriculture officer was found hanging at his rented house at Amua village in Kathalia upazila under the district yesterday.
The deceased was Animesh Bishwas, 42, son of Arobinda Bishwas of Bagpara village in Jashore, said Kathalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MR Shawkat Anwar Islam.
He was working as a sub-assistant officer at the Department of Agriculture Extension in Jhalakathi.
Animesh lived with his family in a rented house at Amua Bazar in Kathalia upazila.
"Animesh's family members saw him hanging from a wooden pole in the bathroom yesterday morning and informed the police," the OC said.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
“It seems Animesh committed suicide. However, we are waiting for the autopsy report to know whether it is suicide or murder," he added.
An unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident, the OC said.
