Advance Eid bus ticket sales begin

Private bus operators started selling advance tickets for the home goers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha from this morning.

The sales began from 6:00am as per the decision taken at a meeting of Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners’ Association on July 16.

Tickets will be sold till 6:00pm every day before the Eid day, reports our photojournalist quoting Aminul Islam, an employee of Hanif Paribahan.

Ayesha Akhter at the capital’s Gabtoli Bus Terminal said she was standing in the queue in front of ticket counter since 4:00am to buy tickets for her entire family.

It was around 9:00am that her wait came to an end and she was very happy after finally getting the tickets, our photojournalist reports quoting Ayesha.

Every year, tens of thousands of people leave Dhaka to celebrate the Eid festivities with the near and dear ones at their village homes.

But their journey often turns bitter largely due to traffic congestion and tailbacks on highways, overcharging of ticket price and delays in bus and train schedules.
