Abducted student rescued from Shahbagh

Rapid Action Battalion today rescued a student of Islamic University in Kushtia from the Dhaka’s Shahbagh area eight days after he was abducted.

The elite force also arrested the alleged kidnapper Tahirul Islam alias Parvez, 22, with Tk 25 lakh ransom money from the area around 3:00pm.

Quoting the victim’s father, Rab-10 Second-in-Command Maj Ashraful Haq said the victim went missing at 5:45pm on January 19 from Jatrabari.

After the abduction, an unknown caller called the family around 8:15pm and demanded Tk 25 lakh, threatening to kill the abductee otherwise.

Following the developments, the victim’s father registered a general diary with Jatrabari Police Station and informed the matter to Rab.
