Abducted girl rescued, 1 held

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued a schoolgirl from Sabujbagh area in the town yesterday, 20 days after her abduction.

They also arrested a woman in this connection.

The arrestee is Aklima Begum, 45, a relative of the victim, said Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Patuakhali Sadar Police Station.

Masud Rana, son of Mostafa Hawlader of Kochabunia village in Sadar upazila, was the house tutor of the victim, a Class IX student of a local school in the town.

On August 20, Masud kidnapped the girl with the help of Aklima when she was going to school from her residence in the town and took the girl to Aklima’s house.

The victim’s mother then filed a general diary with the police station in this regard.

On secret inforamtion, a team of Rab-8 rescued the girl from the house yesterday and arrested Aklima.
