Abducted baby not rescued in a month
The infant baby, abducted one month ago from Purbo Sindurna village in Hatibandha upazila of the district, is yet to be rescued.
Criminals abducted the baby, then 31 days old, around 12:45pm on September 9, when his mother Rupali Rani went out to bring water, keeping him asleep at the house at Purbo Sindurna village.
The baby's father Subodh Chandra lodged a general dairy with Hatibandha Police Station in this regard on September 12 and filed a case on September 15, accusing eight named people and another unnamed with Hatibandha Police Station.
Police is yet to arrest or interrogate any of the accused.
Now the family members have to keep Rupali Rani under constant watch as the afflicted mother once tried to kill herself.
“I want to get back my son unhurt. How will I live without my baby?” said the mother as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Not knowing the whereabouts of the ill-fated baby, the parents are passing agonising time.
“My brother Bikash Chandra and his wife Sonai Rani are the main culprits who abducted our baby boy. They committed the heinous crime over a family feud. A few people acted as their accomplices,” said Subodh Chandra.
“We see police are not doing anything to rescue our baby and arrest the culprits,” he alleged.
Contacted, Hatibandha Police Station Officer in Charge Omar Farooque said, “Police are sincerely trying to rescue the infant boy and conducting raids regularly. The accused people have gone into hiding.”
Nural Amin, chairman of Sindurna Union Parishad in Hatibandha upazila, said, “I hope police will rescue the baby unhurt and arrest all those who were involved in the abduction.”
“I am also trying my level best to trace out the abducted baby,” he added.
Superintendent of Police in Lalmonirhat SM Rashidul Haque said he has ordered Hatibandha police to rescue the abducted baby anyhow and arrest all the culprits.
“We have been told that family feud led to the abduction of the baby. I hope police will be able to bring a good result very soon,” he said.
