7 Myanmar nationals detained with over 2 lakh yaba tablets

Bangladesh Coast Guard members detained seven Myanmar nationals with over two lakh yaba tablets in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.

Lt Commander M Hamidul Islam, media officer of Coast Guard headquarters, confirmed it to the media today.

Acting on a tip-off, coastguards conducted a raid on the bay in Shah Pari Dwip area and chased a boat coming from Myanmar to Bangladesh territory.

Later the coastguards searched the boat and found seven Myanmar citizens who were smuggling the yaba tablets from their country, Lt Commander Hamidul said.

They also seized 2,80,000 yaba tablets hidden in two containers in the boat, the official added.

The detainees, yaba tablets and boat were handed over to Taknaf Model Police Station.
