6 killed as microbus collides with bus in Faridpur

At least six people including four members of a family were killed and another was injured as a microbus collided head-on with a bus in Faridpur Sadar upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Shariful Islam, 32, his daughter Tabassum, 1, his sister-in-law Papiya, 14, and his nephew Tanju of Solna village under Boalmari upazila in Faridpur, Md Faruk, sub-inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and microbus driver Md Nahid of Narail. Md Faruk was the friend of Shariful.

The Dhaka-bound microbus collided head-on with a Magura-bound bus of Mamun Paribahan in Mollikpur area around 6:30am, leaving six people dead on the spot, Md. Shaifur Jaman, additional superintendent of police in Faridpur, said quoting locals.

Another person was taken to Faridpur medical College hospital in critical condition, he told our Faridpur correspondent.

All the victims were passengers of the microbus, the police official added.
