4 held for beating Sunamganj journalist

Police detained four people yesterday in connection with a case for beating a journalist after tying him to a tree in Sunamganj's Tahirpur upazila on Monday.

The arrestees are Foysal Ahmed, 19, Anharul Islam, 20, Tahir Hossain, 22, and Masrubul Islam, 26.

Earlier, victim Kamal Hossain filed a case with Tahirpur Police Station accusing 11 people yesterday, Sub Inspector of the police station Dipankar Biswas said.

Protesting the heinous attack, Sunamganj Reporters' Unity formed a human chain at Altaf Uddin Square in the town. 

On Monday noon, a group of locals beat up Kamal, Tahirpur upazila correspondent of national daily Sangbad, when he went to Ghagotia area to cover a report on lifting sand and stone illegally from the bank of Jadukata river.
