35 Bangladeshis return from India, 5 sent to institutional quarantine in Benapole

Five out of 35 Bangladeshis, who returned this morning from India through Benapole border under special arrangement, were sent to institutional quarantine, said a health official.

The Bangladeshi nationals got stranded in different parts in India including West Bengal due to the country's 21-day lockdown over the outbreak of coronavirus.

Among the returnees, five with high temperature were sent to quarantine ward at Jashore General Hospital, said Dr Zahidul Islam, a health official of Benapole Immigration Office.

The rest were sent to home quarantine for 14 days, he said.

They have been marked with stamps bearing the date till which they will have to stay under home quarantine, said Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration.

India began the 21-day nationwide lockdown from March 25 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
