33 fishermen missing in Bay

At least 33 fishermen remained missing in the Bay of Bengal near the coast of Kuakata after four fishing trawlers capsized on Thursday.

The trawlers include FB Delwar Mollah, FB Hawlader and FB Habib Khalifa.

On Thursday afternoon, the trawlers carrying 38 fishermen capsized in the Bay due to rough weather, said Ansar Uddin Mollah, president of Fish Traders' Association at Alipur, a fish landing station in Kalapara upazila.

Five of the fishermen managed to return ashore on Friday noon, said Ansar Uddin, also chairman of Latachaplee Union Parishad.

The returnees are Babul Fakir, Mojibur, Nantu, Jakir and Sohel of different areas in Kalapara upazila.
