3 robbers arrested

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested three members of an inter-district robbers' gang from Auliapur area in Sadar upazila early yesterday.

The arrested are Yakub Mridha, 40, and Wasim Mollah, 45, of Galachipa upazila, and Ruhul Amin, 42, of Barguna's Amtali upazila.

Patuakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Moinul Hasan said, being informed that a gang of robbers was taking preparation for robbery, a team of DB police raided Patuakhali-Kuakata road around 3:00am and detained the three.

Police also seized a truck, an iron cutter and some sharp weapons from their possession, the SP said.

One of the arrestees Yakub, is an accused in at least nine cases, including for murder, filed with different police stations, he added.
