3 new persons infected with coronavirus

Three new coronavirus cases have been detected in Bangladesh, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 20, a DGHS official confirmed today.

The patients are: a woman aged 30 and two men aged 30 and 70 years, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) told a press briefing.

The 70-year-old man is now in critical condition and is admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), she said. He was infected after coming in contact with a person who returned from abroad recently, she added.

The three are members of separate families, of them, one is an Italy returnee, she said.

So far, a total of 44 people have been kept in institutionalised quarantine while 30 are kept in isolation at hospitals.
