4 killed as two trucks collide in Tangail

Four people were killed and another injured in a collision between two trucks on Bangabandhu Bridge East Link Road in Tangail's Kalihati upazila today.

Two of the deceased were identified as Rezaul Karim, 35, and Mohammad Shah Alam, 32, of Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj.

The identities of the two others could not be known immediately.

Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station Officer-in-charge Md Shafiqul Islam said the accident took place when a truck loaded with tin sheets hit another truck from behind at Char Babla around 4:30pm.

Three people died on the spot after being hit by the tin sheets and two injured people were rushed to Tangail General Hospital, the OC said.

One of the injured later succumbed to injuries at Tangail General Hospital, he added.

Police seized the trucks but the drivers managed to flee.

The bodies were sent to the hospital.
