3 killed in Bogura road crashes

Three persons were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in Bogura today.

A truck loaded with jackfruits broke down at Buzrukbaria area on the Bogura-Rangpur highway around 5:30am. Two persons were repairing the truck, when another stone-laden truck suddenly hit it from behind, causing the jackfruit-laden truck run over them, leaving them dead on the spot, Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Bogura Sadar Police Station, told our local correspondent.

The driver and helper of the stone-laden truck were also injured in the incident and were stuck inside the vehicle. Later, firefighters rescued them and they were sent to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment, the OC said.

The deceased were identified as Al-Amin, 28, son of Sona Mia of Gokul village under the Sadar upazila, and Biplob Hossain, 20, son of Monser Ali of Dighalkandi village of the upazila, OC Rezaul Karim said, adding that the identities of the injured could not be known immediately.

Both the trucks were seized by police, he added.

In a separate incident, one person was killed as a CNG-run autorickshaw collided with a Naogaon-bound bus coming from the opposite direction this morning.

The incident took place near Dupchanchia Thana bus stand on the Bogura-Naogoan regional highway around 6:30am, our correspondent reports quoting police.

The victim, driver of the autorickshaw, was sent to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital immediately after the accident, where doctors pronounced him dead, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Dupchanchia Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, 25, driver of the autorickshaw and son of Md Aminul Islam of Buroil village under Kahaloo upazila, the OC said.

Police seized the bus, but its driver managed to flee, he added.
