3 of a family die as private car falls into ditch

Three members of a family were killed as a private car fell into a roadside ditch in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla earlier today.

The deceased were identified as Sirajul Islam (80), his wife Jahanara Begum (70), and their grandson Abu Bakar Siddik (12).

The accident took place at Kazirkona in the upazila around 5:00am while they were returning to their village home at Faridganj in Chandpur from Dhaka, our Cumilla correspondent reports.

Confirming the accident, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daudkandi Police Station, said, "Police recovered the bodies and seized the car".
