3 held in N'ganj for making fake birth certificates of Rohingyas

Three persons were detained in Narayanganj for making fake birth certificates of Rohingyas so that the refugees can obtain Bangladeshi passports, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) said today.

The detainees are: Wahidul Ali, 28, Azam 30, and Md Fazlul Karim, 32.

On information, a team of the Rab members raided four computer compose shops outside the regional passport office at Siddhirganj from where the three were detained this evening, Mohiuddin Faruque, company commander of Rab-2, told our local correspondent.

The trio was detained based on the information received during interrogation of another three arrested earlier, the Rab-2 CO said.

During the raid, Rab seized fake birth certificates and various seals of different city corporations, different government and private organisations.

They also found some copies of passports in the shops, he said.

One of the detainee Fazlul confessed during primary interrogation that they used to take Tk 300-400 for each fake document, the Rab official said.
