2 women ‘murdered’ in Lakkhipur, Faridpur

Two women died of unnatural causes in the last couple of days in Noakhali’s Lakkhipur and Faridpur Sadar upazilas.

In Lakkhipur upazila, Nasrin Akhter, 30, a resident of Pashchim Latifpur village, was found hacked after she went out to the toilet in early yesterday morning.

She was pronounced dead after her husband and other relatives took her to Lakkhipur Sadar Hospital, reports our correspondent in Noakhali.

Son and brother of the deceased claimed that she mentioned the name of her brother-in-law as her assailant.

Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station, said an autopsy of the body was being conducted at the morgue and no case was filed in this connection till the filing of this report last evening. 

In Faridpur Sadar upazila, Rina Begum, 22, was found dead on Tuesday in a rented house in Charkomlapur area where she lived with her husband, our Faridpur correspondent reports.

Her mother Julekha Begum said Rina’s husband Hasan Matubbar, a rickshaw-puller from Ramnagar area in Nagarkanda upazila, fled the scene after she went to their house and found her daughter’s lifeless body in a room.

Rina was pronounced dead after she was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and the process of filing a case was underway, said police.
