2 'robbers' held with sharp weapons

Two members of an inter-district robber gang were arrested from Purasanda village in Sayestaganj upazila of Habiganj on Friday night.

The arrestees are Lukman Mia, 28, son of Shafiq Mia of Doriarpur village in Habiganj Sadar upazila, and Khelu Mia, 25, son of Ayub Ali of Bhati Soilojura village in Habiganj Sadar upazila, police said.

The gang, comprising eight to ten people, tried to commit robbery at a house in Purasanda main point area when the residents started screaming for help.

Villagers rushed to the spot and caught the two robbers and handed them over to police, locals said. The other robbers managed to flee the spot. 

There are robbery cases against the arrestees with different police stations, said Sayestaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anisuzzaman.

Police recovered some money and sharp weapons from their possession, he added.
