2 murder accused arrested

Police yesterday detained two people in connection with a case for killing a youth at Purbo Bhaga village in Rampal upazila of the district on Sunday.

The arrestees are Lipon Sheikh, 25, son of Farid Sheikh of Jhonjhania village, and Rabi Mollah, 27, son of Daud Molla of Bhaga village in the upazila.

Earlier, Mohammed Mohsin Sheikh, father of slain Lahu Sheikh, filed a murder case with Rampal Police Station accusing three people, including the two arrestees.

The arrestees were produced before a Bagerhat court yesterday afternoon, which sent them to jail, said Rampal Police Station OC Mohammad Lutfar Rahman.

According to the case statement, hearing groaning, Lahu’s mother Rumana Begum woke up early Sunday and found her son lying on the bed with his throat cut.

Lahu died at Khulna Medical College Hospital the same day.
