Two students of Khulna University, who have been on hunger strike since Tuesday evening, demanding the withdrawal of their suspension order, fell ill this morning.

Imamul Islam, a 17th batch student of KU History and Civilization department and Md Mubarak Hossain Noman, a 18th batch student of KU Bangla department, fell ill this morning as they have been on a hunger strike for the last 65 hours, reports our local correspondent quoting Hazra Al Amin, a fourth year student of the university.

Of the two, Noman was given saline while doctors prescribed medicine to Imamul, said Hazra.

Meanwhile, Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque rushed to them in the morning and assured them of taking steps to withdraw their suspension order but the two students vowed to continue their hunger strike until getting written confirmation from the university authority.

Earlier, the university suspended the students for two years alleging that they misbehaved with the faculty and expressed their unwillingness to cooperate with the team the university formed to investigate a student movement at the university in 2020.

The two students went on hunger strike demanding the withdrawal of the suspension order.
