2 killed in Mymensingh road crash

A rickshaw puller and his passenger were killed as a truck rammed into the rickshaw on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh this morning.

One of the victims was identified as Anwar Hossain, 40, a garment worker in Bhaluka who hailed from Burichang upazila of Cumilla. The identity of the rickshaw puller could not be known immediately.

Quoting local people, Al Mahmud Adnan, in-charge of Bhaluka Highway Police Outpost, said a Dhaka-bound sand-laden truck crashed into a rickshaw at Bhaluka Bus Stand around 8:30am, leaving its rickshaw puller and passenger Anwar dead on the spot.

On information, police and civil defense personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, said the official.

Police seized the truck, but its driver managed to flee the scene, said the police official.

A case was filed in this connection, Al Mahmud added.
