2 kids drown

Two children drowned in a pond at Walia village in Lalpur upazila of the district yesterday morning.

The deceased were Afia Khatun, 7, daughter of Alamgir Hossain of Beldarpara of Rajshahi city, and her cousin Naim Hossain, 9, son of Adam Ali of Walia village.

Nazrul Islam Jewel, officer-in-charge of Lalpur Police Station, said the kids accidentally fell into a pond when they were playing on its bank.

Later, locals recovered the bodies from the pond, said the OC.
