2 Huji men arrested in Rajshahi

Two operatives of the banned group Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islam Bangladesh (Huji) were arrested with a huge amount of books on Jihadi philosophy in Rajshahi city yesterday.

Police arrested Mufti Ibrahim Khalil of Jashore and Abdul Aziz of Noakhali from Kharkhari bypass road under Motihar Police Station around 6:00am, according to a press release. 

During primary interrogation, Khalil said he is the regional commander of Khulna and Rajshahi while Abdul Aziz is a coordinator of the outfit.

They said they were reorganising the outfit members as per the instruction of Atikullah alias Zulfikar, a close aide of Huji kingpin Mufti Hannan.

Zulfikar is now at Kashimpur jail in Gazipur, the press release said.

The arrestees said there were four more activists of the banned outfit with them but they managed to flee sensing presence of police.
