2 held with 4kg gold at Dhaka airport

Customs officials today claimed to have detained two persons with around 4kg of gold worth Tk 2 crore in separate drives at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The detainees are Syed Ahmed Mallik and Md Yusuf, said Sazzad Hossain, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Customs House.

Acting on a tip-off, a preventive team of Customs challenged Mallik, who came from Saudi Arabia by a flight of Kuwait Airways around 12:30am and recovered 2.1kg of gold searching his possession, he said.

Earlier on Thursday evening, customs officials also detained Yusuf along with 1.8kg of gold after he landed at the airport from Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airlines, the officials said.
