2 cases filed over Netrakona double-murder

Two separate cases have been filed in connection with two murder incidents in Netrokona town.

Of the cases, one was filed for the brutal killing of a seven-year-old boy allegedly by a suspected drug addict man while the other was filed for beating latter to death by a mob, reports our Mymensingh correspondent quoting police.

Earlier yesterday, a suspected drug addict man, Robin Mia, 35, a rickshaw-puller who was carrying the severed head of a minor boy in a blood-stained bag, was beaten to death by an angry mob in Netrokona’s New Town area.

The deceased boy was identified as Sajib Mia, 7, son of Raisuddin, a rickshaw puller. Both Robin and Sajib hailed from town’s Katli area.

Sajib’s father Raisuddin filed a case against Robin and some unidentified people with Netrakona Model Police Station last night for killing his son, said Mohammad Fakrujjaman Jewel, additional superintendent of Netrakona police (Sadar circle) today.

Besides, another case was filed by Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of the police station, accusing unidentified persons for killing Robin, the police official said.

Meanwhile, police detained six masons last night, who had been working at an under-construction building from where the beheaded body of the boy was recovered, said Mohammad Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.

According to police and locals, Robin was suspiciously roaming around Rishipara area of the upazila with a bloodstained plastic bag in his hand yesterday. Smelling a rat, locals asked him to show them what he was carrying in the bag but he denied.

At one point, Robin tried to flee the area but locals caught him and found the severed head in his bag. The agitated locals then beat Robin to death yesterday afternoon.

Later, locals found the beheaded body of the boy at the under-construction building in Katli area.

The boy used to live with his parents in a rented house in the same area.

According to the Sajib’s family members, he went out of home yesterday morning to buy ice-cream but did not return.

On information, police later went to the spots and recovered the bodies.
