2 BCL leaders held with yaba in Kurigram

Detectives Branch (DB) of police claimed to have arrested two local leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of Awami League, with 30 pieces of yaba tablets in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram.

The arrestees are Ershadul Haque, president of Ramkhana union unit of BCL in the upazila and Safiqul Islam, vice-president of the same unit of BCL.

Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kurigram DB police, said acting on tip off, a team of plainclothes policemen launched a drive in Nakharganj village last night and arrested the duo with the 30 yaba pills. 

Nageshwari upazila unit BCL president Fazlul Karim Saju said the allegation of drug dealing against Ramkhana union BCL president Ershadul has been around for a while and even the police asked him to remain alert on different times in this regard.

Mohibul Islam, superintendent of Kurigram police, told our correspondent that a case was filed against Ershadul and Saiful with Nageshwari Police Station under Narcotics Control Act after they were arrested last night.
