A special chartered flight of US-Bangla Airlines today brought back 162 Bangladeshis stranded in Singapore due to Covid-19.

"The special flight on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft took off from the Changi International Airport in Singapore at around 5:30pm [local time] and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 7:35pm [local time]," Kamrul Islam, spokesperson of US-Bangla Airlines, told The Daily Star.

US-Bangla Airlines, in collaboration with the governments of Bangladesh and Singapore, brought back the stranded Bangladeshi nationals today, he said.

All the passengers reached Dhaka with health certificates showing that they are negative for Covid-19, added Kamrul Islam.

Due to the virus outbreak, a large number of Bangladeshis have been stranded in Singapore for the last four months.

Earlier, US-Bangla Airlines operated several special flights from India, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, and France to bring back Bangladeshis stranded in those countries.
