13 people killed as truck overturns in Gaibandha

Thirteen people were killed as a truck overturned on Dhaka-Rangpur highway under Palashbari upazila in Gaibandha today.

The incident took place around 7:00am in Dublagari area, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting Gaibandha Superintendent of Police Touhidul Islam.

Names of the deceased, mostly day labourers, could not be known immediately.

The victims were returning to the northern districts from Dhaka, Abdul Kader Zilani, officer-in-charge of the Gobindaganj Highway Police Station.

The truck, also loaded with iron rods, overturned on the road, leaving all of the people dead, he said.

The bodies were kept at the local police station at the time of filing this report.
