500 homes gutted in fire at Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camp

At least 500 homes were gutted in a fire that broke out at Noyapara Rohingya camp in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar early today, camp in-charge Abdul Hannan said.

The fire originated at Block-E of the camp around 2am, said Mukul Kumar Nath, station officer of Teknaf Fire Service.

On information, two firefighting units from Teknaf and Ukhiya rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after two hours of frantic effort. The fire was doused around 7:40am.

Origin of the fire could not be known immediately, he said adding that locals claimed it originated from a gas stove.
