12-year-old girl raped in Savar, accused on the run

A 12-year-old girl has been raped, allegedly by her neighbour in Savar.

The girl's father filed the case with Savar Police Station today, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

According to the case statement, Mizanur Rahman, a driver by profession, forcefully took the girl to his rented room and raped her.

He confined the girl to his room and left the area after locking the door, the case statement said.

Later locals searched for her and found her locked in the room. When they rescued the girl, she narrated the incident to them and her family members, the statement added.

Confirming the incident, Saiful Islam, inspector (Investigation) of Savar Model Police Station, said they are trying to arrest the accused.

The victim has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for medical test and treatment.
