12 BNP men sent to jail

Twelve leaders and activists of BNP in Kutubdia upazila were denied bail and sent to jail yesterday in a case for sabotage at Dhurung Bazar in the upazila on October 16.

The arrestees include former lawmaker and present Upazila Parishad Chairman ATM Nurul Bashar Chowdhury, Koiarbil Union Parishad Chairman Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury, Baroghoph union BNP Secretary Ziabul Alam, Kutubdia Upazila Chhatra Dal President Mosharraf Hossain Bappa, Rezaul Karim Raju, Kamrul Islam, Md Rumel, Nazim Uddin and Maulana Nurul Amin.

They got anticipatory bail for four weeks from the High Court early last month in the case filed by Kutubdia police on October 16.

After the bail expired they appeared before the Cox's Bazar Chief Judicial Magistrate Toufiq Aziz's court yesterday. The court sent them to jail, rejecting their bail prayer.
