10 hurt in villagers’ clash

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers allegedly over establishing supremacy in Madhukhali upazila yesterday.

The injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Madhukhali Upazila Health Complex.

Local said there had been a rivalry between Selim Reza and Zahangir Sardar of Sreepur area over establishing supremacy in the locality.

As a sequel to the conflict, both the groups attacked each other with sharp weapons around 12:30pm that left 10 people from both sides injured.

Selim said Zahangir and his men attacked his supporters as he has been working to take part in the upcoming Madhukhali municipality election.

Meanwhile, Zahangir said they didn’t attack anyone, rather Selim and his men swooped on them while they were crossing his house.

Being informed by the villagers, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, Sub Inspector of Madhukhali Police Station Saiful Alam said.
