1 dead, 2 hurt as motorcycle hits road divider in Sylhet

A motorcycle rider died while two others were injured as the vehicle hit a road divider in Sylhet city's Akalia area today.

The two injured were riding pillion, Officer-In-Charge of Jalalabad Police Station Okil Uddin told our local correspondent.

The incident took place in front of the third gate of BGB headquarters in Akhalia around 6:00pm this evening, the OC said.

The deceased is Farid Uddin (22), son of Jashim Uddin of Akalia Dhanurhatar Par area in Sylhet Sadar upazila.

The injured are Ali Hossain (18) and Rashedul (15) of the same area, the OC said.

"They were on their way to Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus when the motorcycle hit the road divider in front of BGB headquarters and were critically injured," OC Okil Uddin said.

"Locals took them to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared Farid dead. The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital," he added.
