Newborn found dead in Habiganj canal

A newborn was found dead in a canal in Mahmudabad area of Habiganj town yesterday afternoon.

Informed by local councilor Sheikh Umed Ali, police recovered the body from the canal around 2:30pm, said Yasinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Someone dumped the body in the canal to hide his or her crime, said the OC.

The body was sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the police official.
