Navy seizes boat with 10 Myanmar citizens from Bay

Bangladesh Navy has seized a boat with at least 10 Myanmar citizens for illegally entering the maritime boundary of Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal.

BNS Abu Bakar seized the boat worth around 1.5 crore from one mile away at the south-west corner of the Saint Martin’s Island in the Bay yesterday, according to a Bangladesh Navy handout.

The naval forces also recovered some sharp weapons while carrying out a search in the boat, the handout read.

The detained Myanmar citizens and the weapons have been handed over to the concerned authorities of Teknaf Police Station for initiating legal action in this regard.
