'Nationalise teachers' job'

Teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions in Pirojpur, Jhenidah and Bagerhat yesterday demanded nationalisation of their jobs, report our correspondents.

Under the banner of Sikkhok-Karmochari Sangram Committee, a human chain was formed in Pirojpur town with the presence of hundreds of teachers and employees of secondary schools and colleges from different upazilas in the district.

They later submitted a memorandum for the prime minister, finance minister and education minister through the deputy commissioner in this regard.

In Jhenidah, hundreds of teachers and employees formed a human chain at Paira Chhatar in the town for realising the demand.

Under the banner of Teacher and Employees' Sangram Parishad, teachers and employees from six upazilas in the district took part in the programme.

They also threatened to call an indefinite strike from January 22 if their demand was not met immediately. 

They also submitted a memorandum to DC Md Zakir Hossain to realise their demand. 

Meanwhile, teachers and employees of nine non-government educational institutions in Bagerhat gave a memorandum for the PM through the deputy commissioner to meet the demand. 

Earlier, they held a protest rally in front of Bagerhat Press Club in this regard.

They also threatened to go for an indefinite strike if their demand was not met by January 22.
