Narsingdi ‘militant den’ cordoned off

At least 5 to 6 militants may hole up at the hideout: Rab

Law enforcers cordoned off a suspected militant hideout in Narsingdi Sadar upazila since this evening.

A team of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in association with local police cordoned off a one-storey building at Gabtoli village (Uttar) in the upazila around 4:30pm, said Lt Col Kamrul Hasan, commanding officer of Rab-11.

At least five to six suspected militants may hole up inside the house, said the Rab official, adding, “We are repeatedly requesting them to surrender.”

“Due to the shortage of light, we may not conduct any operation tonight, but will continue to request them to surrender,” said the Rab CO, adding that law enforcers are planning to conduct the operation in the morning.

The house is owned by a Dubai expatriate Moin Ahmed, the Rab official said quoting locals.

After the death of Moin Ahmed’s wife, his family members went to Raipur village, locals said.
