4 killed in Mymensingh road crash

Four people were killed and two injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh Sadar upazila today.

The deceased were identified Mustafizur Rahman, 62, his wife Rahima Khatun, 45, of Raizan village in Tarakanda upazila; and Yunus Ali, 50, his younger brother Abdul Quddus, 35, of Boula village in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh.

Quoting local people, Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer-in-charge (operation) of Kotwali Police Station, said the Phulpur-bound truck collided with the oncoming auto-rickshaw on Mymensingh- Phulpur road in Alalpur area around 11:15am.

The accident left four passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and two others injured, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting the OC.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) morgue for autopsy.

The injured passengers were also admitted at the same hospital, said the OC.

Following the accident, vehicular moment on the road was suspended for an hour. 

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
