Myanmarese among 7 held with 7 lakh yaba

A Myanmar national was among seven people held with 7 lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila early this morning.

The detainees are Md Jubayer, a Myanmar national, Abdur Rahim, Ashek Ullah, Shamsul Alam, Md Hasan, Md Rashid and Md Younus, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-7 raided detained six people along with 7 lakh yaba from a trawler on the sea around 12:30am, said Lt Col Nixthya Uddin Ahmed, spokesperson of Rab 7.

Based on information from them, Md Rashid was held from a nearby village in Sadar upazila. He is the brother of Md Mofiz, who is absconding and the main accused of another yaba smuggling case.
