Murder of schoolgirl by stalkers sparks protest in Manikganj

Students of Kellai Monsur Uddin High School held a rally and formed a human chain beside Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior upazila of the district yesterday, demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the stalkers who killed a female student of the institution on Saturday.

The deceased is ninth grader Tammi Akhter Moyna, 15, daughter of Tayab Ali Biswas of Kakjor village in the upazila.

On Thursday afternoon, a gang of stalkers, allegedly led by one Rabbi and Sohan, hit Moyna from behind while she was returning home from her school in the upazila.

Seriously injured Moyna was rushed to Manikganj General Hospital and shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as her condition deteriorated. On Saturday night, she succumbed to her injuries at DMCH.

The victim's father filed a case, accusing Rabbi and Sohan in this connection, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ghior Police Station.
