Municipality mayor, UZ vice chairman suspended in Bogra

Mayor of Sherpur municipality and vice chairman of Shibganj Upazila Parishad, accused in three cases, were suspended through an order issued by the ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives yesterday.

They are Shadin Kumar Kundu, 46, mayor of Sherpur municipality and organising secretary of Sherpur municipality unit of BNP, and Abdus Samad, 50, vice chairman of the upazila parishad and Jamaat upazila unit leader.

The two were accused in three cases for sabotage, vandalism and arson, said Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station.

Recently, a charge sheet was pressed against the mayor in a case.

On May 18, a Bogra court rejected his bail prayer and sent him to jail, said police.
