Missing tourist found dead in Kuakata shore

The body of a tourist, who went missing while swimming in the sea on Wednesday, was recovered yesterday in Majhibari area, about four kilometres west of Kuakata Zero Point.

The deceased, Shohag Rahman, 30, hailing from Ashulia in Savar, was a civil engineer working in a firm named Green House Construction and Consultation.

Shohag Rahman and his two friends Shohag, 20, and Mohsin, 20, also from Ashulia in Savar, were hit by a big wave while swimming in the sea.

Locals rescued the two friends but could not find Shohag Rahman, said Kuakata Tourist Police Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman.

Divers from Patuakhali Fire Service, tourist police, fishing trawlers, coast guard and locals searched for the victim on Wednesday evening but in vain.

Police informed Shohag Rahman's family about the incident on Wednesday.

Locals found the body on the shore of the sea early yesterday morning and informed Mohipur Police Station.

Police handed over the body to Md Shamim, elder brother of the deceased, as per instruction from the higher authorities, said Md Hafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of the police station.
