Missing farmer found dead

The body of a farmer was found floating in a canal in Nesarabad upazila of the district, two days after he went missing on Saturday.

The deceased was Selim Mia, 45, son of Taibur Rahman of Balodia village in the upazila.

Quoting the deceased's family members, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kazi Shahnewaz said Selim went to plant paddy saplings on a disputed land on Saturday morning and did not return home.

The following day, deceased's younger brother Abu Abdullah Liton filed a general diary (GD) with Nesarabad Police Station in this regard.

Villagers spotted Selim's body floating in a canal near Katakhali Bazar yesterday morning.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The deceased's body bore several injury marks in different parts including neck and hands, the ASP said, adding that they were trying to find the motive behind the death.
