Mentally ill man takes own life

A mentally challenged man allegedly committed suicide yesterday by hanging himself in Baharpur union under Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari.

The deceased was Durga Charan Biswas, 40, son of late Kanti Bhushon Biswas of Bagutia village.

“Durga had been suffering from mental illness since long. He hanged himself from a tree beside his house yeaterday,” said Hasina Begum, officer-in-charge of Baliakandi Police Station.

Police sent the body to Rajbari General Hospital morgue for autopsy, she added.
