Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today arrested the mastermind of the attack on an Ansar camp in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar in May last year.

A team of Rab-7 arrested Nur Alam alias Rohingya robber Nur Alam from Kutupalong area in Ukhia around 7:30pm, said Lt Col Ashequr Rahman, company commander of the elite force’s Cox’s Bazar camp.

“We are currently conducting an operation taking the arrestee along to recover the looted arms,” the Rab officer also said.

On May 13 last year, Ansar member Ali Hossain, 55, was shot dead and 11 firearms were looted during the attack inside a Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf.

The looted arms and ammunition are: four M2 rifles, two SMGs, five Chinese rifles and 670 bullets.

Alamgir Hossain, an Ansar member of the barrack inside the Rohingya camp, later filed a case against 35 unidentified people with Teknaf police station.
