Manpower export to Malaysia on G2G basis delayed

The cabinet today sent back the draft agreement between Bangladesh and Malaysia governments for sending Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia as both countries are yet to sign memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard.

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment placed the draft before the cabinet today, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters after the cabinet meeting.   

Meanwhile, the meeting approved the draft of the Local Government (Pourasava) (Amendment) Law, 2015 in principle.

According to the draft law, if anyone wants to contest local government elections, the aspirant will have to be an independent candidate or nominated by a political party. 

The meeting held at the Secretariat was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
