Man killed over mosque committee formation

A man was killed over forming committee of a mosque at Moubaria village in Daulatpur upazila on Friday.

Deceased Enamul Haq Kazi, 45, son of Shamser Kazi of the village, was a cattle trader.

Shah Dara Khan, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said there was a longstanding conflict between Enamul and Amirul Islam of the village over forming committee of Moubaria Kadme Rasul Ja'ame mosque in the area.

On Friday night, rival group stabbed Enamul when he was returning home from nearby Khalishakundi bazar. He died on the spot.

As the death news spread, relatives of the victim attacked the house of Amirul and set it on fire.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, the OC said, adding that four people were detained for interrogation.
