Malaysian ship Nautical Aliya has reached Chittagong port with relief for Rohingyas, which will be handed over to the stranded Myanmar citizens today.

Malaysian high commissioner in Dhaka, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Khurshid Alam and Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Ali Hossain will receive the ship.

A total of 15,000 families of Cox’s Bazar Rohingyas will get 1,472 tonnes of different items loaded in the aid ship, our staff correspondent reports quoting DC Ali.

Of the families, 5,500 of Teknaf upazila and 9,500 of Ukhia upazila, he added.

Led by Bangladesh Navy Captain Mohammad Nizamul Haque, the officers met with the aid mission organisers in the meeting room of the captain's bridge yesterday.

Cox's Bazar is close to Rohingya refugee camps in the area such as the Kutupalong camp, where more than 10,000 Rohingya families are said to reside.
