Three sued, one arrested
A housemaid has landed in Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital with serious injuries due to torture allegedly by her employers.
The victim, Nazma Begum,15, is daughter of rickshaw puller Monsur Ali of Bishrabanda village under Baralekha upazila of the district.
"I sent my daughter to Azir Uddin's house in Panchpara village as a housemaid one year ago. Three months ago, Azir Uddin's wife Rabeya Begum sent Nazma to her daughter Lutfa's house in Laksham," Monsur Ali said.
Lutfa used to torture her brutally over trivial issues, Nazma alleged.
The victim's father and some locals rescued her on Saturday night and took her to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Monsur Ali filed a case with Baralekha Police Station yesterday around 5:00pm.
Police arrested Rabeya Begum yesterday evening, but her husband and daughter are traceless.
Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baralekha Police Station, said police had recorded the victim's statement.
The victim wants legal support, the OC said.
