On December 8, 2013 Mahmudur Rahman was sent to jail after he was produced before a court in connection with two cases filed for provoking violence and assaulting police.

One of the cases was filed on March 17 in connection with provoking hartal and pre-hartal violence and another on March 26 for assaulting police and preventing them from discharging duties.

Later he was shown arrested in 60 other cases and remanded for several times. But Mahmudur was yet to seek bail from any court.
